Advancing Sustainable Urban Development Through Education and Innovation
The GO! GreeNiš project has officially concluded, marking a significant step in sustainable urban planning in southern Serbia. Spearheaded by TEAM members, the initiative focused on the development of the first Green City concept for the city of Niš, setting a valuable example for future urban sustainability efforts across the region.

Funded by the European Union through the BACID program (Building Administrative Capacities in the Danube Region and Western Balkans), the project aimed to equip local actors with the knowledge and tools to begin transforming Niš into a greener, more inclusive, and more resilient city.
The GO! GreeNiš project was designed to: Build local capacity for implementing the Green City concept; Provide a comprehensive understanding of sustainable urban development; Train key actors on how to involve relevant stakeholders in long-term urban transformation efforts
GO! GreeNiš is more than a project initiative—it’s a model for other cities in the Western Balkans and Danube Region. By combining training, research, and action planning, the project empowers cities like Niš to align with the UN’s Agenda 2030 and take meaningful steps toward environmental sustainability.
